Privacy Policy

What NAT Clipped Is

NAT Clipped is a locally installed desktop application for Windows. It runs on your own computer and is used to capture, trim, and post gaming clips. Two features send limited data to infrastructure we operate, described below: posting a clip to Instagram (a temporary relay), and crash/update-failure diagnostics.

Information We Collect

NAT Clipped collects minimal information to function:

• OBS Connection Settings — host, port, and password used to connect to your local OBS instance. Stored locally on your machine only.
• Twitch Account Credentials — if you connect a Twitch account or bot account, OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection. These are never transmitted to us or any party other than Twitch.
• Viewer Clip Count Data — when Twitch chat integration is enabled, the usernames of viewers who use the clip command and their cumulative clip counts are stored locally in a data file on your machine. This data powers in-chat features like !myclips and !topclippers and is never transmitted off your machine.
• TikTok Account Credentials — if you connect a TikTok account, OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection. These are never transmitted to us or any party other than TikTok. Timestamps of your recent TikTok submissions are also stored locally so the app can show you how many posts you have made in the current 24-hour window.
• YouTube Account Credentials — if you connect a YouTube account, OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Google are stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection, along with your channel name (displayed in the app so you can see which account is connected). These are never transmitted to us or any party other than Google. Thumbnail images you choose for uploads are stored locally alongside your clips.
• X (Twitter) Account Credentials — if you connect an X account, OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection, along with your username (displayed in the app so you can see which account is connected). These are never transmitted to us or any party other than X.
• Instagram Account Credentials — if you connect an Instagram account, OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Meta are stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection, along with your Instagram username (displayed in the app so you can see which account is connected). These are never transmitted to us or any party other than Meta. Posting a clip to Instagram also involves a brief relay step described under Cloudflare R2 (Video Relay Storage) below.
• Voice Command Phrases — phrases you record to trigger clips. Audio samples are processed locally and only the resulting text transcript is stored. Raw audio is never retained.
• Clip Files — video files captured from OBS are stored locally on your machine in folders you configure. We do not upload or transmit clip content without your explicit action.
• App Configuration — settings such as layout preferences, hotkeys, and overlay configurations. Stored locally in a JSON file on your machine.
• App Update Checks — on each launch, the NAT Clipped launcher checks a public version file we host to see if a newer version is available, and downloads it automatically if so. This check does not send any personal information — see Cloudflare R2 (Update Manifest & Releases) below.
• Crash & Update-Failure Diagnostics — if NAT Clipped crashes, force-quits itself as a memory-safety precaution, or an automatic update fails to download or verify correctly, a small diagnostic report is sent to a private storage bucket we control. This report includes your app version, Windows version, what kind of failure occurred, and — for crashes only — a short portion of the technical error trace, which may include local file path fragments (such as folder names) but never clip content or account credentials. See Cloudflare R2 (Crash & Update-Failure Diagnostics) below.
• Policy Acceptance Records — during the alpha, when you confirm you've read this Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (a required one-time step, shown again only if the policy changes), we record that confirmation: the tester name from your access key, the version of this policy you accepted, and a timestamp. See Cloudflare R2 (Policy Acceptance Records) below.

Third-Party Services

NAT Clipped integrates with the following third-party services when you use specific features:

• Google Speech Recognition — when voice commands are enabled, audio captured by your microphone is sent to Google's speech-to-text API for transcription. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• OBS WebSocket — communicates with your locally installed OBS Studio instance. No data leaves your machine through this integration.
• Twitch — when Twitch integration is enabled, NAT Clipped authenticates via Twitch OAuth and maintains a persistent connection to Twitch's IRC chat servers to send and receive messages. Live chat messages are processed in memory to detect clip commands; message content is not stored to disk. Viewer usernames and clip counts are stored locally as described above. All Twitch connectivity is subject to Twitch's Privacy Policy.
• TikTok API — when you connect a TikTok account, NAT Clipped authenticates via TikTok's OAuth flow and uses TikTok's Content Posting API to upload a clip to your TikTok account only when you explicitly choose to post it. Your access tokens are stored locally on your machine. NAT Clipped does not read your TikTok content, followers, or messages. Subject to TikTok's Privacy Policy.
• YouTube Data API (Google) — NAT Clipped uses YouTube API Services. When you connect a YouTube account, NAT Clipped authenticates via Google's OAuth flow and uses the YouTube Data API to (a) upload videos to your channel only when you explicitly click to post a clip, (b) set the thumbnail you selected on those uploads, and (c) read your channel name to display which account is connected. Your access tokens are stored locally on your machine and are never transmitted to us or any party other than Google. NAT Clipped does not read your videos, subscribers, comments, or analytics. Use of this integration is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. You can revoke NAT Clipped's access to your Google account at any time via Google security settings or the Disconnect button in the app.
• X (Twitter) API — when you connect an X account, NAT Clipped authenticates via X's OAuth 2.0 flow and uses the X API to (a) post a clip to your X account only when you have explicitly enabled live posting in Settings and click to post a clip, (b) read your username to display which account is connected, and (c) read performance metrics (such as view counts) on posts made through the app, shown back to you in your own dashboard. Your access tokens are stored locally on your machine and are never transmitted to us or any party other than X. NAT Clipped does not read your direct messages, followers, or other users' content. Because X's API is billed per use, posting through the app is capped by a monthly budget the app enforces before any post is made. Use of this integration is also subject to the X Developer Agreement and X's Privacy Policy. You can disconnect NAT Clipped's access to your X account at any time via the Disconnect button in the app.
• Instagram Content Publishing API (Meta) — when you connect an Instagram account, NAT Clipped authenticates via Meta's OAuth flow and uses the Instagram Content Publishing API to post a clip to your Instagram account only when you explicitly choose to post it. Your access tokens are stored locally on your machine and are never transmitted to us or any party other than Meta. Because Instagram's API requires a web-fetchable video URL rather than a direct file upload, posting a clip involves one additional step: NAT Clipped temporarily uploads that specific clip to a private cloud storage bucket we control (see Cloudflare R2 below), solely so Instagram's servers can retrieve it. NAT Clipped does not read your Instagram posts, followers, direct messages, or other users' content. Use of this integration is also subject to the Meta Platform Terms and Instagram's Privacy Policy. You can disconnect NAT Clipped's access to your Instagram account at any time via the Disconnect button in the app.
• Cloudflare R2 (Video Relay Storage) — used only when you post a clip to Instagram (see above). The specific clip you choose to post is uploaded temporarily to a private storage bucket hosted by Cloudflare, reachable only via an unguessable, per-upload URL, solely so Instagram's servers can retrieve it to complete your post. NAT Clipped deletes the clip from this storage automatically once the post completes, and in all cases no later than 24 hours afterward regardless of outcome. No other feature of NAT Clipped uses this storage, and no clip is uploaded there unless you explicitly post to Instagram. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare R2 (Update Manifest & Releases) — on every launch, NAT Clipped reads a small public version file hosted on Cloudflare to check whether a newer version exists, and downloads the new application file from the same storage if so. This is a one-way, unauthenticated read of a public file; no information about you or your machine is sent to request it. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare R2 (Crash & Update-Failure Diagnostics) — if NAT Clipped crashes, force-quits itself as a memory-safety precaution, or an automatic update fails, a small diagnostic report (app version, Windows version, failure type, and for crashes a short portion of the technical error trace) is sent to a private storage bucket hosted by Cloudflare that only we can read. This is used solely to identify and fix real bugs and update problems. It contains no clip content, account credentials, or connected-platform tokens. Reports are automatically and permanently deleted after 90 days. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare R2 (Policy Acceptance Records) — during the alpha, confirming you've read this Terms of Service and Privacy Policy sends the tester name from your access key, the policy version you accepted, and a timestamp to a separate private storage bucket hosted by Cloudflare that only we can read. Unlike the diagnostics bucket above, these records are kept as proof of confirmation rather than auto-deleted — they contain no clip content, account credentials, or connected-platform tokens. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Google API Services Limited Use disclosure: NAT Clipped's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies and Local Storage

NAT Clipped's dashboard runs in your web browser but is served entirely from the app on your own machine (a local address such as http://127.0.0.1) — it is not a website we host. That local dashboard page uses your browser's built-in localStorage and sessionStorage (not tracking cookies) to remember interface preferences on your device, such as whether certain panels are collapsed or docked and the state of an in-progress upload queue. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us or any third party, and is not used for advertising, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect general usage analytics, behavioral tracking, or advertising data of any kind
• We do not create user accounts or store credentials on external servers
• We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal information to third parties
• We do not access your clip files or configuration without your direct action
• We do not include your clip content, connected-account usernames, or platform tokens in crash/update diagnostics (see Crash & Update-Failure Diagnostics above)

How Your Data Is Protected

Capturing, trimming, and editing clips all happen entirely on your own machine — no servers we operate are involved. Two features do involve infrastructure we operate, both described below: posting a clip to Instagram, and crash/update-failure diagnostics. OAuth tokens for connected platforms (Twitch, TikTok, Google/YouTube, X, Instagram) are stored in the application's data folder inside your own Windows user profile and are transmitted only to the platform that issued them, never to us or anyone else. All communication with third-party APIs occurs directly from your machine over encrypted HTTPS (TLS) connections. The first exception: posting a clip to Instagram briefly uploads that clip to a private Cloudflare R2 storage bucket we control, strictly to satisfy Instagram's API requirement for a fetchable video URL — that clip is deleted automatically once the post completes and, in all cases, within 24 hours. The second exception: if the app crashes, force-quits itself as a memory-safety precaution, or an update fails, a small diagnostic report (no clip content, credentials, or tokens) is sent to a separate private Cloudflare storage bucket we control, automatically deleted after 90 days — see Crash & Update-Failure Diagnostics above.

Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

All data NAT Clipped generates is stored locally on your machine. Uninstalling the application removes the application files. Your clip files and configuration are stored in folders you control and are not affected by uninstalling unless you choose to delete them.

Google / YouTube data: Google OAuth tokens and your channel name remain on your device only while your YouTube account is connected. Clicking Disconnect in the app immediately revokes NAT Clipped's access with Google and deletes the stored tokens and channel name from your device. You can also revoke access at any time from your Google Account security settings. Deleting the application's data folder removes all locally stored data, including tokens. NAT Clipped retains no copies of your Google user data anywhere else — it has no servers to keep them on.

X data: X OAuth tokens and your username remain on your device only while your X account is connected. Clicking Disconnect in the app immediately revokes the stored tokens and deletes them, along with your username, from your device. Deleting the application's data folder removes all locally stored data, including tokens. NAT Clipped retains no copies of your X user data anywhere else — it has no servers to keep them on.

Instagram data: Meta OAuth tokens and your Instagram username remain on your device only while your Instagram account is connected. Clicking Disconnect in the app immediately revokes the stored tokens and deletes them, along with your username, from your device. The one exception to NAT Clipped having no backend storage: when you post a clip to Instagram, that specific clip is temporarily copied to a private Cloudflare R2 storage bucket solely so Instagram can retrieve it, and is deleted automatically once the post completes — no later than 24 hours afterward in any case, even if a post fails partway through. No other clip content is ever copied off your machine.

Crash & update-failure diagnostics: reports described above are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket only we can access, and are automatically and permanently deleted 90 days after they're received — this is enforced by Cloudflare's own storage lifecycle rules, not a manual process. These reports are never linked to your name, email, or any connected-platform account.

Policy acceptance records: stored in a separate private Cloudflare R2 bucket only we can access. Unlike diagnostic reports, these are not automatically deleted — we keep them as a record that a given access key confirmed a given version of this policy. They contain the tester name from your access key and a timestamp, never clip content, account credentials, or connected-platform tokens.

Children's Privacy

NAT Clipped is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using NAT Clipped, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

License

NAT Clipped is proprietary software. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the application for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer the application without our express written permission.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use NAT Clipped only for lawful purposes. You may not use the application to:

• Capture, store, or distribute content that violates any applicable law
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
• Post or distribute content that violates the terms of any connected platform (Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, etc.)
• Harass, defame, or harm any individual

Third-Party Platforms

NAT Clipped connects to third-party platforms including Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Instagram. Your use of these platforms is governed by their respective terms of service. By using NAT Clipped's YouTube features, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. By using NAT Clipped's X features, you also agree to be bound by the X Developer Agreement. By using NAT Clipped's Instagram features, you also agree to be bound by the Meta Platform Terms. We are not responsible for any actions taken by those platforms regarding your account or content.

Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you capture, edit, and post using NAT Clipped. This includes ensuring you have the rights to any music, footage, or other media included in your clips. We are not liable for copyright claims or platform violations arising from content you post.

Disclaimer of Warranties

NAT Clipped is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the application will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of NAT Clipped, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or interruption of service.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates.
